A high quality book that is priced very reasonably. Well organized and illustrated throughout. This is a very informative book. Shows you how to digitally repair damaged photographs in Photoshop, and in other (affordable) image editors.
I am sure Ctein had many other photos he could have used for an example. Ctein makes extensive use of a photo of two overweight homosexual women, one nude and one partly clad. I will not order another book without first examining it. This is an example of in-your-face homosexuality. One of the women is supposed to be a famous photograher, whose name he gives. If I had known that I had to look at this photo so much, while trying to understand his techniques, I would not have bought this book.
Very helpful, but not a beginner's book. Excellent, detailed how to restore old damaged photos.
I found this to be very helpful.I wish I had this book when I did my first restorations. He also lets the reader know about different types of software that will help with the restorations and how the software works. This is a great book for beginners and professionals. Although, if you are a beginner, you will need some basic knowledge of Adobe Photoshop CS2 or CS3.Ctein does a great job of walking the reader through the individual photo restorations.
Highly recommended. This covers most all of the situations you're likely to be confronted with. This is an excellent guide to restoration of old photos and negatives. Everything you'd want to have explained, laid out in step by step detail.
